You just need to follow the below steps can remove the chart border.
1. Right click at the chart area and select Format Chart Area from the context menu. See screenshot:
2. In the Format Chart Area dialog, click Border Color in left pane, and then check No line option in the right section. See screenshot:
3. Close the dialog, then you can see the border of chart is removed.

Gridlines are light grey lines that appear around cells on Microsoft Excel worksheets. When you first install Excel on your business’ Mac, gridlines are displayed by default. Whether you’ve turned them off on purpose or by accident, add gridlines back into your business’ worksheets via the Show group on the View tab in Excel.
1.Launch Excel and open the workbook containing the worksheet you want to edit.
2.Click the tab for the worksheet you want to edit. Worksheet tabs are located along the bottom of the Excel workspace. If they haven’t been renamed, the tabs have labels such as “Sheet1” and “Sheet2.” To add gridlines to multiple worksheets, hold down the 'Ctrl' key and click the name of each sheet you want to edit.
4.Check the “Gridlines” check box in the Show group. Excel adds gridlines back onto all selected worksheets in your workbook.

Click “File” on the main menu and click “Save” from the drop-down menu to save your changes.
Tips
- Adding gridlines to a worksheet does not mean they will appear when you print that worksheet. To display gridlines on printed worksheets, click the “Page Layout” tab. Click the “Sheet Options” group and then click the “Print” check box under the Gridlines heading.
- Though they are similar, gridlines are not the same as cell borders. For tips on how to display cell borders, view the link in the Resources section.
